Summer Concert Series

Michael Maganuco, harpist

Harpist Michael Maganuco will perform a set of solo harp works. 

This concert is presented by Chicago Music Players and is free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $15. 

The concert will be held in the South Dining Room on the first floor. 

Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the students of Li-Ying Chang's Piano Studio will not be performing.

About Michael Maganuco:

Michael Maganuco regularly performs as principal orchestral harpist of Jackson Symphony and Dubuque Symphony​. In Chicago he works with Lakeview Orchestra, Lake Shore Symphony, Chicago Metropolitan Symphony, DePaul Symphony, and in 2022, made his debut with the Lyric Opera of Chicago orchestra. He performed extensively with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago as a recurring guest harpist from 2014 to 2019 where he worked with esteemed conductors Riccardo Muti, Ken-David Masur, Nicholas Kraemer, and Sir Andrew Davis. A few of his career highlights include performing alongside the brilliant writer and comedian Jenny Slate; a concert with New World Symphony conducted by composer John Adams; and being a harp fellow at Tanglewood Music Center.

Pride Month - LGBTQ, Trans and Non-Binary 101

South Dining Room, First Floor

Led by a representative from the Center on Halsted.

In this one-hour presentation we will dive deeper into LGBTQ, Trans, and Non-Binary topics. This includes a guide to advanced terminology, population and experience statistics, youth identity development, specific micro-aggressions, and misgendering. Q & A session to follow.

Free & open to the public. No registration required

Beginning June 30th:

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention

Beginning June 30th at 10am, certified instructor Ann Cothran teaches Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention at the Nineteenth Century. All 12 classes in the course begin at 10am (see full schedule below), each class is 45-50 minutes in duration, and the fee for the course is $90.
